A Story About God's Love

Dear Brother/Sister, Sir/Ma,

I would like to share a short story with you.

1. The Loving King

There once was a great King who deeply loved His people and His kingdom. He gave them everything they needed to live in peace and joy. They had food, safety, purpose, and every good thing because they lived under the King's care.

2. One Command

The King gave His people only one command. They were never to leave His kingdom or cross its boundary. He lovingly warned them that if they did, they would lose their way and would not be able to return on their own.

3. Peace in the Kingdom

For a long time, the people remained in the kingdom and enjoyed the blessings the King had provided.

4. A Stranger Arrives

One day a stranger entered the kingdom. He questioned the people and reminded them about the King's command not to cross the boundary.

5. The People's Answer

The people replied that the King had warned them they would lose their way if they left.

6. The Lie

The stranger told them not to believe the King. He claimed there was a better land outside the kingdom with greater freedom and opportunity. He convinced them they would not regret leaving.

7. The Fall

The people believed the stranger instead of their King.

When they crossed the boundary, they soon discovered they had been deceived.

Outside the kingdom there was no lasting peace or joy. Instead they found suffering, fear, sickness, hard labor, hunger, pain, and sorrow. They became slaves to their new life and realized they could no longer find the way back home.

8. The King's Compassion

The King saw the suffering of His people and His heart was filled with compassion. He desired to bring them home, but there was only one way to rescue them. Someone innocent would have to take their place.

9. The King's Son

The King called His only Son, the Prince and rightful heir to the throne.

He asked His Son to leave the glory of the kingdom, go to the lost people, and give His own life so they could be brought home again.

10. The Greatest Sacrifice

Because of His great love, the Son willingly obeyed.

He left His throne, came to the people living in suffering, and gave His life in exchange for theirs so they could be rescued.

Those who believe in Him, accept His sacrifice, and follow Him are welcomed back into the King's kingdom. Those who reject Him remain separated from the King.

Scripture
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

What the Story Means

The King represents God Almighty, the King of kings.

The Son represents Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace and Savior of the world.

The Kingdom represents God's presence and eternal life.

The People represent all humanity.

The Stranger represents Satan, the deceiver.

The Land Outside the Kingdom represents sin.

What the Bible Says

Jesus did not come to condemn us to destruction but to give us abundant life.

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10

Jesus alone is the way back to the Father.

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6

Jesus Christ came to save us from sin, suffering, and eternal destruction.

Without Jesus Christ, no one can return to the Father.

An Invitation

Today, Jesus is calling everyone living in the "strange land" of sin to come back home to Him.

His arms are open.

His love is real.

His salvation is free.

Tomorrow may be too late.

Choose wisely while there is still opportunity.
