DISCOVER THE MYSTERY

I beseech you, beloved brethren in Christ, may His grace be sufficient for us all. May He grant us wisdom and understanding to know Him more deeply and to walk faithfully in His ways. Amen.

We all know how much God loves and cares for us. He created us in His own image (Genesis 1:26–27), and even before He created mankind, He made sure that everything we would need to survive was already in place. In Genesis chapter 1, God created light for us to see, separated the waters, made the trees and plants for food, and created the animals. These are the very things that continue to sustain human life today.

God's care for us did not stop at creation. Because of His great love, He came into the world to sacrifice Himself so that we could be reconciled to Him. John 3:16 reveals the depth of God's love, while John 1:1 and John 1:14 show us that the Word is God and that the Word became flesh. Before Christ's death and resurrection, humanity had been separated from God because of sin (Genesis 3). Yet, because of His unfailing love, God made a way to restore us to Himself. These are just a few examples of how deeply God cares for us.

This led me to ask an important question: How can we show God that we also care for Him?

Many of us may think, as I once did, that it is impossible to care for God because He is Almighty and possesses everything. We cannot feed Him as we feed our earthly parents. We cannot buy gifts for Him or provide for His needs as we would for someone we love. God is Spirit, invisible to our physical eyes (1 Timothy 6:15–16). Since we cannot see or physically touch Him, how then can we show Him that we truly care?

One day, while praying and thanking God, I decided to worship Him in a special way by calling Him by His glorious names and expressing my love for Him. Then I found myself saying, "My God, I care for You."

Immediately, a question arose within me: How can I say that I care for God? Considering His greatness and the fact that He owns the heavens, the earth, and everything in them (Psalm 24:1), what could I possibly offer Him?

Then the Holy Spirit ministered to my heart that it is indeed possible to care for God. He began to show me practical ways we can demonstrate our love and care for Him. I would like to share some of them.

1. We Must First Accept Him Wholeheartedly

Before we can genuinely love or care for someone, we must first accept them for who they are. In the same way, to care for God, we must wholeheartedly accept Him for who He is, what He stands for, and what He represents.

John 1:12 tells us that those who receive Him become children of God. God is revealed through His Word, Christ is the living Word, and Christ perfectly reveals the Father. Jesus said, "I and the Father are one" (John 10:30), and "Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father" (John 14:9–10). Accepting Christ is accepting God Himself.

2. Love What He Loves and Care for What He Cares About

One of the greatest ways to show that we care for God is by loving what He loves and caring for the things He cares about.

God loves people without discrimination—regardless of race, tribe, language, wealth, or social status. He cares for both believers and unbelievers and desires that sinners come to repentance.

If we truly care for God, we should care about the salvation of souls. We should share the gospel with those who do not know Christ. We should love, forgive, and promote peace just as He does.

We should also care for the needy. When someone is hungry, feed them. When someone is thirsty, give them something to drink. When someone is sick, visit them. When someone is naked, clothe them. When someone is homeless and you are able to help, extend your hand to them. Jesus said that whatever we do for the least of His brothers and sisters, we do for Him (Matthew 25:35–40).

Likewise, if we reject what God loves, refuse to show kindness, or neglect those He cares about, we dishonor Him. God remembers every act of love and service done in His name. Hebrews 6:10 reminds us that He is not unjust to forget our work and labor of love.

3. Defend His Name by Proclaiming the Truth

Another way to show that we care for God is by standing for His truth. We are not called to defend God's name with physical weapons or hatred, but by faithfully proclaiming His Word.

God commanded Ezekiel to speak His words whether people listened or refused to listen (Ezekiel 2:7). Likewise, we must never be ashamed to speak about Christ.

Many of the apostles suffered persecution because they refused to stop preaching the gospel. Stephen was stoned to death because he boldly testified about Jesus (Acts 7:54–60).

As Christians, we have been called to witness to those who have not yet received Christ. Romans 10:13–15 teaches that people cannot believe unless they hear the gospel, and they cannot hear unless someone tells them.

If the apostles had stopped preaching because of persecution, many of us would never have heard the good news of Jesus Christ. Therefore, proclaiming His name is one of the clearest ways to show that we truly care for Him.

4. Fellowship with God Continually

Regular fellowship with God is another evidence that we care for Him.

You cannot claim to love someone while never spending time with them. Likewise, we cannot say we love God if we only seek Him when we are in trouble.

The Bible encourages us to seek the Lord continually (1 Chronicles 16:11). James 4:8 says, "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you."

We should seek Him through prayer, thanksgiving, worship, and meditation on His Word. We are instructed to "pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18). Every time we pray sincerely, we are fellowshipping with our Heavenly Father and strengthening our relationship with Him.

5. Keep His Commandments and Follow His Voice

Finally, one of the greatest ways to show that we care for God is by obeying Him.

Jesus said, "If you love Me, keep My commandments" (John 14:15). Likewise, 2 John 1:6 teaches that love is demonstrated by walking in obedience to God's commands.

We cannot sincerely claim to love God while continually rejecting His instructions. Genuine love produces obedience.

Those who truly care for God also learn to recognize His voice. Jesus said, "My sheep hear My voice; I know them, and they follow Me" (John 10:27–28).

Just as a loving child recognizes the voice of his parents, those who truly love God become familiar with His voice through fellowship with Him. They listen, obey, and follow wherever He leads.

When we obey God's will and walk in His ways, we demonstrate that our love and care for Him are genuine.

Conclusion

Beloved, caring for God is not about giving Him material things, because everything belongs to Him. Rather, it is about giving Him our hearts through faith, obedience, love, fellowship, and faithful service.

When we accept Christ, love what God loves, proclaim His truth, seek Him continually, and keep His commandments, we show that we truly care for Him.

May the Lord grant us the grace to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to demonstrate that love daily through our lives.

May this word bear lasting fruit in our hearts and help us grow in our relationship with our Heavenly Father.

May God bless you all abundantly. Amen.
