Breaking Bread

Private·7 students

About

Breaking Bread is a shared table for asking questions about Scripture, courses, and personal study in a respectful and joyful spirit. It is a place to unpack the rich lessons of our courses and to share insights or revelations discovered in your own Bible reading. Here, Scripture is examined with care, curiosity, and delight, and discussion is encouraged as a pathway to deeper understanding. This group exists to promote growth in faith through reading, conversation, and learning together in a thoughtful, supportive community.

Group Rules

Build Each Other Up, or Access May be Lost

Your primary responsibility in this group is peace, kind and encouraging interaction with other Christians. As people gather, it is natural to have differences and divisions. Do not focus on what divides you, rather focus on what unites you as the body of Christ. If you disagree with something someone says, train yourself to ask them simple questions to open dialogue and use phrases like "We may not agree on everything, but I respect you and will take this to prayer." Members that cause inflammation will no longer have access to certain groups, because we will not force you to change who you are. But if you are not good with others, your options will be limited. Strive to build each other up, get to know people personally, like a neighbor and don't look down on others so that you don't have limitations to overcome in loving them.

Keep it Academic, Not Denominational

This is an academic setting, so other people with various Christian beliefs are welcome. It is not a place to correct people's views. These people are welcome here, because how else will people grow if they can't feel safe and grow out of a false view? If someone posts something that you don't like, don't react. People are not corrected by others, they are corrected by prayer, patience and the Holy Spirit. In our academic groups, it is more important to learn as one, than to be right all the time. It is more important to see people as family (even though you are culturally different), than as online users who need to be set straight. We pride our spaces in being positive, respectful and rich in learning.

Be respectful of others’ privacy

Being in this group depends on our trust of one another. Some discussions may be sensitive or contain sensitive information, so what’s said in the group should stay in the group.

No harassment of any kind

Bullying, targeting, or attacking a member of this group is not allowed and will not be tolerated.

No sales or spam

No selling to or spamming other members is allowed in this group. Anyone who does so will be subject to immediate removal.

Clean Language Only

Name calling, foul language and even just acronyms (not spelling the words out) are not tolerated. It's not that you need to be a holy roller to be in this channel, but part of learning and growing is trying to have other ways to express yourself that are pure, not standard or laid back. We firmly believe that in order to invite God into a space, it should be accommodating to His holy presence. It can only have a positive impact by trying, right?

Keep Worldly Topics Out

Because everyone will have their own views, it becomes easier to create divide by bringing up: political views, opinions, depressing news, faction support of wars, leaders, and even mention of Satanic groups. While people in this group may agree, believe similar conspiracies, or know the worldly sources of evil-- leave these topics out of our academic growth channel. We are here to seek God, learn more about scripture, share ideas that lead to growth and discovery and discuss Jesus' glory. There is no time left after all that for Satan, or worldly conspiring. Come enjoy higher thinking, heavenly influence and power that comes from joy in our group.
